I Swear to God
I SWEAR TO GOD follows a group of queer middle schoolers putting on a passion play in the early 2000s. When one of the children witnesses a private moment, they must choose between the love of their friends and their eternal salvation. Moving between the past and present, the play looks at the culpability of Christianity in the exploitation and traumatization of children, and the difficulties of discovering your identity in an environment that wants you to stay hidden.
As assistant scenic designer, I created mood & architectural boards, pitched ideas and critiques in weekly scenic design meetings, assisted in the creation of 1/4” and 1/2” scale models, and spearheaded communication with the scene shop during construction of the set and tech week.
